Symposium for History Undergraduate Research

This weekend, I participated in the Symposium for History Undergraduate Research held at Mississippi State University. Two other KSU students presented at the conference, and the keynote speaker was KSU’s Dr. Silke Zoller. This conference was a great way to meet history students from across the United States, and even Canada, and there were countless fascinating papers shared.

My paper was on King’s Wigwam, the African American summer resort that was open in Kennesaw from 1915 to 1919. I used newspaper accounts and legal records to tell a more complete version of its story than has ever been previously shared. It was included in a panel titled Neighborhood Histories.
